Police case filed against Virat Kohli’s pub in Bengaluru ahead of IPL 2025 Final

As Virat Kohli gears up for the IPL 2025 final on June 3 in Ahmedabad, off-field controversy has struck the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star. Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park Police have registered a case against Kohli’s pub, One8 Commune, for not having a designated smoking area.

The establishment has been booked under various provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), which regulates smoking in public places. Interestingly, this is not the first time Kohli’s pub has landed in trouble.

In June last year, an FIR was filed against One8 Commune for operating beyond the permitted hours. Later, in December, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued a notice to the pub for failing to obtain a fire safety No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Virat Kohli has scored 614 runs so far in 14 innings in the IPL 2025

While the controversy unfolds off the field, Kohli’s on-field performance in IPL 2025 has been strong. The former RCB captain is currently fifth on the Orange Cap leaderboard, with 614 runs in 14 matches. He has maintained an average of 55.81 and a strike rate of 146.53, registering eight half-centuries this season.

However, with just one game left in the season—the final—it is highly unlikely that Kohli will overtake Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan, who leads the Orange Cap standings with 759 runs from 15 matches. Sudharsan’s tally puts him 145 runs ahead of Kohli. Despite that, Kohli’s consistency at the top has been vital for RCB throughout the season.

Whether partnering with England’s Phil Salt or youngster Jacob Bethell, Kohli often provided solid starts, laying the foundation for competitive totals or big chases. His aggressive intent in the powerplay and ability to anchor the innings have been instrumental in RCB's journey to the final.

Now, as RCB prepare to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the title clash, fans will be hoping for another standout performance from Kohli.

More than just a batter, his presence on the field—as a senior player, motivator, and former captain—adds invaluable energy and leadership to the side. A win in the final would not only cap off a successful season for Kohli but also potentially mark a historic moment in RCB’s pursuit of their maiden IPL title.
