Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has acknowledged moving from Mumbai to Maharashtra ahead of the 2025–2026 domestic season. Once regarded as a long-term prospect for Indian cricket, the youthful opener thinks this move will create the ideal atmosphere for his development. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) formally granted Shaw's request for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) in late June.

The eight years that Prithvi Shaw spent with Mumbai are now over. Last month, the opener asked the Mumbai Cricket Association for a No Objection Certificate (NOC), which the board later granted. Shaw, who cited the association's efforts to expand cricket and improve facilities throughout the state, expressed confidence in his potential to perform well for Maharashtra and characterised the move as a constructive step in his career.

Prithvi Shaw Makes Fresh Star:

In a statement, Shaw revealed, "At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years."

Following a difficult time in his cricket career, the 25-year-old made this decision. He has had trouble staying fit, maintaining his form, and maintaining discipline off the field since making his Test debut in 2018 and hitting a century. He last played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final in December 2024 after being cut from Mumbai's Ranji team the previous season. The Maharashtra Cricket Association's (MCA) president, Rohit Pawar, greeted Shaw and gave him his season-ending shirt.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cricket Association tweeted, "We are delighted to welcome Prithvi Shaw, India international cricketer and U-19 World Cup-winning captain, to the Maharashtra Cricket Association. His experience and energy will be a valuable addition to our vision for excellence."
