PSL 2025: 5 Bowlers to watch out for

PSL 2025 will be the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League. The first match of the season will be played between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars on Friday, April 11, at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

The United are the defending champions and defeated Multan Sultans in the final last year. They chased down the target of 160 runs on the last delivery of their innings with two wickets in hand.

Here are the five bowlers to watch out for in this edition of the tournament:

1. Ubaid Shah

Ubaid was the leading wicket-taker for the Pakistan Under-19 team in the World Cup last year. He took 18 wickets in just six games at an average of 12.38. In the recently concluded National T20 Cup, Ubaid took seven wickets in five games at an average of 18.42.

2. Hasan Ali

Hasan Ali is just six wickets away from becoming the leading wicket-taker in PSL. He has taken 108 wickets in 82 matches at an average of 22.96. He was the highest wicket-taker for the Karachi Kings last season and has been appointed the vice-captain of the side this year.

3. Ali Raza

Ali Raza was also a part of the Under-19 World Cup team last year. He has the ability to swing the ball both ways and has received a lot of praise for his performance in domestic cricket. Ian Bishop picked Raza as one of his favorite players this season.

4. Abbas Afridi

Since 2024, Abbas has picked 33 wickets in 20 T20 games at an average of 15.48. He has taken the third-highest number of wickets by a Pakistani bowler. He took 13 wickets in nine games last season at an average of 19.07.

5. Shaheen Afridi

Shaheen has taken 103 wickets in 71 games in PSL at an average of 21.02. He has taken 38 wickets in 27 T20 games at an average of 21.10 since 2024. He will surely be one of the bowlers to watch out for in this edition of the tournament.
