PSL 2025: Full list of captains of all teams

The tenth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to begin on 11 April 2025, featuring 34 matches and six teams competing for the title. Fans can expect another thrilling season, as PSL has consistently delivered high-quality cricket over the years.

However, for teams to succeed, captains must step up and lead from the front. All eyes will be on them as they look to guide their sides to glory.

Islamabad United - Shadab Khan

For the defending champions, Islamabad United (IU), Shadab Khan will continue as captain, aiming to defend the title in the upcoming season.

IU will begin their campaign against Lahore Qalandars (LQ) at the Rawalpindi Stadium on 11 April. Under Shadab’s leadership, IU has won 31 out of 55 games, with a winning percentage of 56.36.

Karachi Kings - Shan Masood

Karachi Kings (KK) have struggled since the 2022 season. In the last edition, Shan Masood was given the responsibility to lead the side, but KK finished fifth with just eight points, securing four wins and six losses in 10 games.

In the upcoming season, Shan will aim to improve his captaincy and lead the team to glory. KK will begin its campaign against Multan Sultans (MS) at the National Stadium, Karachi, on 12 April.

Lahore Qalandars - Shaheen Shah Afridi

After appointing Shaheen Shah Afridi as captain, Lahore Qalandars (LQ) found instant success, winning back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023. However, when the chance came for a title hat-trick, they crumbled, finishing at the bottom last season with just one win in 10 games.

Shaheen has a solid winning percentage of 52.94 as LQ captain, and this season offers him the perfect stage for redemption. LQ will begin their campaign against Islamabad United (IU) on 11 April at the Rawalpindi Stadium.

Multan Sultans - Mohammad Rizwan

Under Mohammad Rizwan's leadership, Multan Sultans (MS) have played top-quality cricket. Since taking charge in 2021, he led MS to one title and three consecutive runner-up finishes (2022, 2023, and 2024). As captain, Rizwan boasts an impressive winning percentage of 66.66, with 32 wins in 48 games.

Although he had a forgettable Champions Trophy as Pakistan’s captain, PSL 2025 could be the perfect platform for him to restore his reputation as a brilliant leader. MS will begin their campaign against the Karachi Kings (KK) at the National Stadium, Karachi, on 12 April.

Peshawar Zalmi - Babar Azam

Star Pakistan batter Babar Azam is expected to lead Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) in PSL 2025. Under his captaincy, PZ reached the playoffs in the last two seasons but failed to advance further. This time, fans will hope for a stronger performance.

In 22 matches as PZ captain, Babar has won 11 games. PZ will begin their campaign on 12 April at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium against Quetta Gladiators (QG). There were rumours about Babar leaving PZ, but he dismissed them in a media interaction in January 2025.

Quetta Gladiators - Rilee Rossouw

South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw was given captaincy duties for Quetta Gladiators (QG) last season. He did well in his first season as skipper, leading QG to the playoffs.

With five wins in 10 matches, he had a decent start, and in the upcoming season, he will look to improve those numbers and guide the Gladiators to their second PSL title. QG will begin their campaign on 12 April at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium against Peshawar Zalmi (PZ).
