“We have not played good cricket” - Rajat Patidar opens up on RCB’s poor form at home

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar has opened up on the team’s poor form in home games in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Notably, the Patidar-led RCB franchise suffered three consecutive defeats at home this season.

Opening up on poor form at home, Patidar stated that the wicket at Chinnaswamy is a bit tricky and unpredictable. Though he added that it wasn’t an excuse, he asserted that the team would adapt to the conditions and do well.

“We have not played good cricket in our home matches and you have talked about the toss, it's not in my hand, so, let's see. And this time wickets are a bit tricky and unpredictable over here, but that is not an excuse. So, we'll try to adapt to the situation and condition as quickly as possible,” said Patidar.

Moreover, Patidar stated that despite the toss not going in his team’s favour, they will give their best in whatever conditions they get. Notably, RCB is currently at the fourth rank in the standings with five wins and three losses.

"It is not that if you lose the toss, half the battle is lost because the toss is not in our control. But as a player, if you have to bat first, you should always try to do the best you can in such a situation and conditions. So, we are trying to focus more on that aspect and not on the toss," said Patidar.

"For us, I think it is about being in the present moment because in this league, you have back-to-back matches. So, it's important to learn from the past and learn from the errors. And we don't keep talking about our home matches that we have lost, and we focus on the present as much as possible, which is more important. We always try to do the best on that day," said Patidar.

RCB will next take on the Riyan Parag-led Rajasthan Royals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, April 24.
