During his innings against Services at Srinagar on Saturday, J&K veteran batsman Paras Dogra made Ranji Trophy history by becoming the tournament's second-highest run scorer. Before No. 4 Dogra risked a batting collapse to reach the milestone, J&K had already flipped Services over for 71 in the opening session.

During his tough knock, he surpassed the current Indian women's team's coach Amol Muzumdar's record of 9203 runs. Since making his debut in 2001, the right-handed hitter has amassed 9210 runs in India's top domestic red-ball competition. Only the great Wasim Jaffer's incredible total of 12038 runs is greater than Dogra's. Yashpal Singh (8700) and Devendra Bundela (9202) are among the top five run scorers in Ranji Trophy history.

Paras Dogra moves up on the highest run scorer list:

Batter Runs
Wasim Jaffer 12,038
Paras Dogra 9210*
Amol Muzumdar 9203
Devendra Bundela 9202
Yashpal Singh 8700

Notably, before relocating to Pondicherry for the 2018–19 to 2023–24 seasons, Dogra played for India ‘A’ and his home state of Himachal Pradesh. Since making his debut in 2001, Paras Dogra has amassed an outstanding 9604 runs at an average of 49.76 in 135 first-class games, including 31 hundred and 33 half-centuries. In 2018, Dogra scored around 6418 runs with 19 hundred and 24 fifties while playing for Himachal in 95 Ranji matches.

Of the players currently competing for the Ranji Trophy, Dogra has the most hundreds (30). He trails Ajay Sharma (31) and Jaffer (40) on the all-time list. In the Ranji Trophy, he and Cheteshwar Pujara share the record of nine double hundreds by hitters. After J&K bowled Services out for 71 in the opening innings, Dogra knocked him. Services could only muster 132 runs in the second innings as the home team jumped out to a massive 157-run lead. He also has the distinction of being the batter who, together with Cheteshwar Pujara, has the most double hundreds (9) in Ranji history.
