Former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin believes Australia's Cameron Green will do well in the IPL 2026 auction, which will take place over the course of a day in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

According to Ashwin, Green's worth has only increased after Andre Russell and Glenn Maxwell withdrew from the event. Russell's decision to retire from the IPL just days after being released by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) shook the cricketing world, enhancing Green's chances of obtaining a lucrative contract.

Meanwhile, Maxwell withdrew from the IPL 2026 auction and hinted at maybe not returning to the league. Ashwin also predicted that England all-rounder Liam Livingstone would make a significant bid in the auction following Russell and Maxwell's departure.

"Ask Cameron Green to book 4-5 acres near the Sydney harbor. He has entered the auction this time and there is no Andre Russell or Glenn Maxwell. CSK fans put him (Maxwell) at No. 6 and were waiting for him but now that chance is gone. So, Liam Livingstone and Cameron Green have a big jackpot at the auction,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Russell and Maxwell aside, other foreign stars, Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali, have withdrawn from the 2026 IPL season.

Cameron Green has been in exceptional touch in T20Is since returning from injury. Throughout eight Twenty20 Internationals in 2025, the 26-year-old has amassed runs at an average of 43 and a strike rate near 169.

Additionally, he has resumed bowling duties from the first Test of the current Ashes series. The Australian all-rounder played well in the two seasons before to missing the 2025 IPL due to injury.

Green was instrumental in Royal Challengers Bengaluru's stunning playoff run in IPL 2024, scoring at an average of nearly 32 with a strike rate of 143.25 in 13 games. In IPL 2023, he was as crucial for the Mumbai Indians, scoring 452 runs at a terrific average of 50.22 and a strike rate of 160.28 in 16 games to help them qualify for the playoffs.
