Ravi Ashwin predicts big-money IPL bids for Cameron Green in 2026 mini-auction

CSK spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has made a bold prediction about Australia’s star all-rounder, Cameron Green. Ahead of the 2026 IPL mini-auction, Ashwin believes foreign all-rounders like Green will attract huge bids.

Speaking on his YouTube channel ‘Ash ki Baat’, Ashwin said: “This will be a mini auction where you’ll find it tough to get Indian players. Maybe only new players will come. The costly picks will be overseas players. A franchise releasing a big Indian player is a very risky formula. So many Australian players will come in the auction.”

He further added: “You’ve got Mitchell Owen, who was a replacement player for three games for Punjab Kings. Then you’ve got someone like Cameron Green coming into the auction. They’ll go at a big price because they are foreign all-rounders. The mini-auction will be a game of Rs 25-30 crore for all teams.”

Both Owen and Green are currently playing in Australia’s ongoing home T20I series against South Africa. Owen recently made his T20I debut against West Indies and scored a fifty in his first match. Green had an excellent series in West Indies, scoring three fifties in five games.

All eyes will now be on the mini-auction to see if Ashwin’s prediction comes true. However, Ashwin’s own future with CSK is reportedly uncertain. There have been rumours that he may not continue with the franchise.

Recently, while speaking with Sanju Samson on his YouTube channel, Ashwin addressed the speculation. “Every player seeks clarity. As things stand, it's not in my hands. I've just asked for clarity. The situation we're in, all the news floating around, none of it is coming from the players.”

Meanwhile, former CSK batter Subramaniam Badrinath has said that despite Ashwin’s value to the team, the best move for the franchise might be to release him due to his high price tag.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Badrinath said: "I feel Ashwin adds value to CSK, but not at INR 10 crore [INR 9.75 crore / sic]. In the IPL, you need to see the price point and the player. He is definitely not at his peak. That is why I have been maintaining from the start that Ashwin has to be released."
