During a live YouTube broadcast, Ravichandran Ashwin asked a panelist to stop when MS Dhoni was mentioned. This came after Ashwin declared his channel would not cover Chennai Super Kings (CSK) matches for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), a decision that stirred discussions within the cricketing community.

Since retiring, Ashwin has been increasingly active on YouTube, where his insights have occasionally sparked controversy, especially regarding CSK. His channel has drawn attention and criticism, including remarks from CSK's head coach, Stephen Fleming.

Tensions escalated when Prasanna Agoram, a former analyst for South Africa and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), questioned CSK’s decision to play Noor Ahmad despite having seasoned spinners like Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. This discussion triggered backlash, leading Ashwin to halt CSK-related content on his channel for the remainder of the season.

Ashwin explained the move, stating, “Given the nature of discussions on this forum over the last week, we want to be mindful of how things can be interpreted and have chosen to step away from covering CSK games, both previews and reviews, for the rest of this season.”

Ashwin Reacts to MS Dhoni's Mention

Recently, while analyzing IPL 2025 matches on his YouTube channel, Ashwin avoided discussing CSK games. During a conversation, a panelist mentioned MS Dhoni while talking about leadership, comparing Dhoni to Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson.

Ashwin promptly interrupted, signalling the panelist to stop by saying, “Sshhh. Ssshhhh.” In response, the panelist pushed back, asserting, “No, you shouldn’t speak first. I am a member of the audience.”

Ashwin’s firm stance on avoiding CSK-related discussions, particularly about Dhoni, has further fueled speculation about his relationship with the franchise.
