Former Indian cricketer and cricket analyst Ravi Ashwin has lashed out at Harshit Rana, who conceded 54 runs in his four-over spell against Sri Lanka in the Super Four clash on Friday, September 26, in Dubai.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin asserted that the mistakes made by Harshit Rana against Sri Lanka were really amateurish. Moreover, he felt that it’s not easy for him to play one match and then sit out in the other, as it could flatten his confidence.

"I just want to speak about Harshit Rana. He has played a few games. It is not easy to play one match and then sit out. It could really be flattening for your confidence, and also be a bit rusty. But the mistakes made by Harshit against Sri Lanka were really amateurish," said Ashwin on his YouTube channel 'Ash Ki Baat'.

Furthermore, Ashwin also stated that Rana’s ploy in the powerplay overs didn’t go out well. Additionally, the former spinner also felt that Pathum Nissanka played the Indian seamer perfectly well, dominating the powerplay overs.

"I thought the game was done in the power play, but India made a stellar comeback after that. Harshit Rana was cranking up the speed. He hit him on the head, and then he followed it up with a slower ball. Nissanka played it beautifully. Harshit Rana was just bowling slower balls after delivering a fast-paced delivery. One fast, one slow, and one fast and one slow. That is a really amateurish way of playing cricket. He should really learn from this," he added.

Delving into the details, Indian batted first and posted a dominating total of 202/5 in 20 overs. Opener Abhishek Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief, smacking 61 runs in 31 balls. In the chase, Sri Lanka took the game to the Super Over, courtesy of Pathum Nissanka's (107) and Kusal Perera's (58). However, India went on to win the Super Over quite comfortably, staying unbeaten in the campaign.
