Ravi Shastri warns Vaibhav Suryavanshi and wants him to learn to handle failures

14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the RR player who has stunned everyone in the ongoing IPL 2025, has received valuable advice from legendary Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri. Suryavanshi is the youngest player ever sold in an IPL auction and is set to play in the Indian Premier League.

With a six to start his IPL career, Suryavanshi became the youngest debutant in IPL history and made a grand entrance on the global stage.

However, the Royals have already lost five straight tournament games, so using the young batter did not help their chances. They are now in ninth place on the points table as a result of their inability to pursue the objectives from dominant positions.

The Rajasthan-based team has lost several close games and only won two of their nine games.

“There will be failures, Ravi Shastri tells Vaibhav Suryavanshi to be bold

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, was also singled out by Shastri for his incredible 34 off 20 balls, which included a six off his maiden IPL delivery. Although he applauded Suryavanshi's boldness, he cautioned against it.

"He is very young, and it's essential for him to fall and understand how to get up on his own. He is an explosive batter and has a great future if he carries the same confidence throughout his career. I think the first shot he played would have taken everyone's breath away. But he's young, so I would say just let him play a bit because at that age, there's bound to be failure as well. It's how he handles failure," said Shastri on ICC Review.

Shastri cautioned that more difficult obstacles will arise as a result of Suryavanshi's early achievement. Suryavanshi has so far scored 50 runs in two games at an average of 25.

"People will come up with new things. There'll be lots of short stuff thrown at him. When you tonk someone's first ball for six, then you show no mercy. Then you don't care whether he's 14 or 12 years old or 20 years old," added Shastri.
