Reports: Hardik Pandya set to miss three-match ODI series vs Australia

Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who missed the all-important Asia Cup 2025 final due to a quadriceps injury, is all set to miss the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Australia Down Under in October 2025. 

Also, Hardik has been advised to take at least four weeks of rest, which means that the all-rounder will miss the ODI series. However, he is expected to be a part of the five-match T20I series after the conclusion of the 50-over series.

In the concluded Asia Cup 2025 campaign, Hardik Pandya accumulated 48 runs in four innings and pocketed four wickets in six matches. However, in the last Super Four clash against Sri Lanka, he bowled only one over before leaving the field with an undisclosed injury, which was later revealed as a quadriceps injury.

Eventually, Pandya was replaced by Rinku Singh in India's playing XI for the Asia Cup 2025 grand finale against Pakistan. Rinku went on to play only ball in the whole campaign, smacking the finishing runs for Team India in the title clash.

“I was very gutted to miss the most important game, but the way the boys played was outstanding. They showed a lot of character," Pandya said in a video shared by the BCCI.

The upcoming ODI series is expected to act as a comeback series for the Indian stalwart batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who opted not to take part in the India A vs Australia A One Day series, starting on Tuesday, September 30, at Green Park in Kanpur.

It’s worth noting that India will play their first ODI against Australia on October 19 at Perth Stadium in Perth, while the first T20I will begin on October 29 at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
