Indian middle-order batter Rinku Singh, who has been included in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 squad at the last minute, replacing Jitesh Sharma, has stated that he is flexible to bat anywhere in the playing XI.

Speaking exclusively to the Times of India, Rinku has asserted that people see him as a finisher, but he added that he can bat anywhere in the XI, giving instances of his fifty-plus scores coming in the powerplay.

"At the position I usually bat, people see me more as a ‘finisher', but I don't believe I can only play that role. I can bat anywhere. I've batted in the powerplay in domestic cricket and for India. I've scored all three of my fifties in the powerplay," Rinku Singh told the Times of India.

"Everyone feels good when their name is included. Getting into this Team India is very important. Playing the World Cup for the country is a matter of destiny. When a player is left out, it is usually due to team combinations. Sometimes, because the combinations do not work out, a player does not get a place," he added.

"Many things happen because of preferred team combinations. One should not worry," the Indian batter concluded.

Interestingly, Rinku's last T20I outing came against Australia Down Under, but he couldn't get a chance to bat. While he missed out on the South Africa T20I series recently, he was slotted in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 squad with Ishan Kishan emerging as the back-up keeper.

India’s squad for T20I series against NZ announced & ICC Men’s T20 World Cup: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (WK), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel (VC), Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Washington Sundar, Ishan Kishan (WK).
