Rishabh Pant is an awesome player, I enjoyed watching him bat: Harry Brook

England middle-order batter Harry Brook has heaped praise on the Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant for turning heads towards him in the Leeds Test with his twin centuries against England in the new WTC 2025-27 cycle.

Notably, Rishabh Pant emerged as the first Indian batter and second keeper-batter after Andy Flower to score twin centuries in England. While Pant smacked 134 runs in 178 balls in the first innings, he went on to score 118 runs in 140 balls in the second innings.

Hailing Pant as an exceptional batter, Brook stated he has the capability of turning the television on whenever he comes out on top. Moreover, the English batter stated that the Indian middle-order batter is one of the best batters in the world.

“He is an awesome player. I enjoyed watching him bat. He’s an eye-catcher; everyone turns on the television when he bats. In my opinion, he is one of the best batters in the world,” Brook said in an interaction with The Hindu.

Notably, Pant surged one spot up to the career-best seventh position in the newly released ICC Test Rankings for batters after his twin centuries in the Leeds Test against England. Additionally, the Indian opening batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored an exceptional century in the first innings, remains the highest-ranked Indian batter at the fourth rank. 

Moreover, the Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah retained his No.1 rank in the ICC bowling rankings in Tests after his 12th five-wicket haul away from home. Unfortunately, India ended the Leeds game with a five-wicket loss after setting a 371-run target in the fourth innings. 

Team India, led by Shubman Gill, will lock horns with England in the second Test, starting on Wednesday, July 2 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
