Former Indian keeper-batter and commentator Robin Uthappa has warned the Indian team, advising them not to be complacent against the hosts, the United Arab Emirates, which could pose a danger to the Men In Blue.

Speaking on Sony Sports Network, Uthappa also felt that while India are clear favourites to lift the title in the Asia Cup 2025 campaign, he also asserted that the Indian team needs to take every game respectfully.

"I think complacency is a danger, so I’d make sure they take every game respectfully. The quality of players is so good that sometimes you can take your foot off the pedal, thinking, ‘Listen, we’ll dominate, so you can relax.’ That is something they need to look out for,” Uthappa said on Sony Sports Network.

Additionally, Uthappa also reckoned that there might be key contenders from the current unit in the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka next year, adding that the dressing room atmosphere should be light.

"They need to make sure the health of the team is really good. In this unit, there may be two or three more guys who are going to be the key contenders for the World Cup next year. So you want everyone getting along, keeping the dressing room atmosphere light, but at the same time, playing for each other,” he added.

Furthermore, Uthappa also felt that the Indian team should be wary of a team like Afghanistan, led by Rashid Khan. Notably, Afghanistan defeated Hong Kong in the first match of the Asia Cup 2025 campaign.

"A team like Afghanistan, where the bowling is really good, can put pressure on them," Uthappa concluded.
