Rohit Sharma scoring a century before Champions Trophy is a huge boost: Ravindra Jadeja

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is back in form after his match-winning century against England in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday, February 9.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja asserted that it will be a huge boost for Team India to have an in-form Rohit Sharma at the ICC Champions Trophy, scheduled to start on February 19 in Pakistan and Dubai.

"Sometimes, it just takes one or two innings to turn things around. The good thing is that, before an important tournament like the Champions Trophy, scoring a hundred is a huge boost. It’s great for the team, and obviously, he himself knows his game well. There’s nothing much to think or discuss," Jadeja said in the post-match press conference.

“Played domestic matches helped me” - Ravindra Jadeja

Notably, Jadeja took place in domestic matches recently before heading to the ODI team. Importantly, the Saurashtra all-rounder played two Ranji Trophy games against Assam and Delhi. In the ODI series, he scalped three wickets in Nagpur while he went onto pocket another three wickets in Cuttack in the first two ODIs.

“Playing the domestic matches helped as the number of overs I sent down helped me get into rhythm. After almost two years I am playing ODIs and was trying bowl same lines and lengths as Test matches,” Jadeja added.

With the ODI series already clinched by 2-0 with one more game to go, Team India would be aiming to continue their winning momentum and clean sweep England with a scoreline of 3-0 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 12.

After the ODI series, Team India will move to the Champions Trophy 2025. They will take on Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in the group stage.
