Shubman Gill is likely to be a part of India's playing XI in the fifth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday, January 3.

Gill wasn't a part of the Melbourne Test which India lost by 184 runs, but the early indications are that the youngster may well get a look into India's playing XI.

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir addressed the press conference ahead of the fifth Test and refused to confirm Rohit Sharma's place in the playing XI. He claimed that they will look at their playing XI after having a look at the pitch after the toss on Friday.

There have been several reports from the Indian Express that Gautam Gambhir has had enough and wants to stamp his authority in India's dressing room.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Shubman Gill is seen receiving a pat on the back and a fist bump from Gautam Gambhir during the team's practice session in Sydney.

Jasprit Bumrah is also seen shaking Shubman Gill's hands, making it likely for the youngster to get a look into India's playing Xi. Gill was also seen taking catches off a spinner with a new-look slip cordon with Virat Kohli in the first slip, KL Rahul in the second slip and Nitish Reddy in the third.
