Mumbai in-form batter Sarfaraz Khan, who has been excluded from India and India A teams, has finally opened up on his exclusion in the red-ball format for the ongoing two-match South Africa Test series at home, and the previously concluded red-ball series.

Speaking to the media ahead of the next Ranji Trophy 2025-26 round for Mumbai, the middle-order batter Sarfaraz has made it clear that there is no need to change anything in his technique.

“I do not think I need to change anything because I am doing well. I have always played a lot of balls (in training) and even now I try to practice as much as I can,” Sarfaraz told the media.

“One cannot score runs in every single match. The past four seasons have been good, and sometimes a batter loses his wicket despite playing well. But we can always get back to scoring runs,” he added.

Additionally, he also revealed that there is no frustration for him despite being excluded from the national team and the India A sides recently. Delving into the details of his stats in the longest format of the game, Sarfaraz has played six Tests, amassing 371 runs from 11 innings at an average of 37.1.

“There is no frustration at all. If you look at my record, I have scored a lot of runs. People have one season in four years where they make a thousand runs, but maine chaar-paanch saal daba ke runs banaye hain (I have made plenty of runs for 4-5 years),” he stated.

For the unversed, while Sarfaraz was part of the Indian Test team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia Down Under, he wasn’t part of the XI in any of the five games. Eventually, he was excluded from the Test squad for the subsequent series.
