Australian in-form pacer Scott Boland has said that Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant is ‘very unpredictable’ when asked about the toughest batter he has bowled to in his red-ball career so far.
Speaking in a rapid-fire round organised by Grasscricket, Boland reckoned that Pant knows how to slog the ball for a six and to block it on the same ball. Known for his unorthodox shots, Pant makes life tough for the opposition bowlers around the world.
"Rishabh Pant from India. He's someone who's very unpredictable. So, I feel like sometimes he slogs you for six and you bowl the same ball, and he blocks it. So, he is very hard to bowl to," said Boland in rapid-fire, organised by Grasscricket.
On the other hand, during the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 campaign, Pant had disclosed his mutual admiration for Boland, emphasizing that he is an amazing bowler and bowls quite difficult lines and lengths.
"I think he's been an amazing bowler. The way he bowls line and lengths, especially in Test cricket, is quite difficult because he's so used to playing in the conditions, and you don't feel like he's playing his first initial matches. It feels like he's been there for a long period of time, and that's the kind of experience," Pant had said.
In the BGT 2024-25 series, Boland played three Tests, taking 21 wickets at 13.19. He got Pant out twice, and the left-hander managed only 64 runs against the pacer, averaging 32.
It’s worth noting that Pant has an amazing Test record against Australia, racking up 879 runs from 21 innings at an average of 46.26 with a century and three half-centuries. Speaking about Boland's numbers against India, he has played five Tests, pocketing 16 wickets with the best bowling figures of 10/76 in a match.
