Shikhar Dhawan Engaged: Former India Star to Tie the Knot with Sophie Shine

On Monday, January 12, former India opener Shikhar Dhawan announced on Instagram that he was engaged to Sophie Shine. After announcing their relationship on May 1st of last year, Shikhar and Sophie had been dating for some time. The couple's photo, which Sophie posted online, soon gained popularity and went viral. At the time, Sophie made their relationship public for the first time by captioning the picture with the words “My love”  and a heart emoji. Months of conjecture about Dhawan's private life came to an end with the article.

Since then, the two have been spotted together on other occasions, such as at a media conference where Dhawan implied that he had found love once more and during a Champions Trophy game in Dubai. During Dhawan's IPL tenure with the Punjab Kings, Sophie was also spotted in the stands. Dhawan posted a picture of the couple with their engagement rings to announce their engagement.

The engagement follows a difficult time in Dhawan's private life. The former Indian opener discussed the emotional toll of his divorce from Aesha Mukherjee, which was finalised in October 2023 following an 11-year marriage, in February 2025. When the Delhi court granted the divorce, it noted that Dhawan had experienced emotional stress, especially as a result of his extended separation from his son Zoravar. The cricket player was given access to video calls and visitation rights, but he later disclosed that communication had been hindered, which made the phase upsetting for him.
