Shivam Dube discloses the advice he received from Gautam Gambhir

Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube has revealed the piece of advice he has received from the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, which helped him to gain his confidence and improve his bowling.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Dube has also disclosed that the constant backing from Suryakumar Yadav, Gautam Gambhir, and Morne Morkel has helped him to improve on the bowling front.

In the fourth T20I against Australia at the Carrara Oval in Queensland, India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. Dube went on to score a 22-run knock while he pocketed two important wickets with the ball in hand.

“When I got the opportunity in T20Is, I knew I had to bowl. I am getting a lot of support. Morne (Morkel), Gauti (Gambhir) bhai and Surya made a solid plan for me - as to how to use conditions and bowl accordingly,” Dube said in the post-match press conference at the Carrara Oval.

“Gautam Gambhir has been backing me a lot. ‘Bindaas bowling daal. We are here for you. Even if you go for runs, you have to express yourself.’ There was a plan today. I was able to execute it,” he added.

“I was trying a lot to improve my bowling, but it was not happening. Since I started working with Morne Morkel, I am able to focus on those small things that have helped me improve,” he concluded. 

Speaking about his T20I stats, Dube has accumulated 607 runs from 32 innings at an average of 27.59 with four half-centuries. Moreover, he has pocketed 21 wickets from 31 innings with the best figures of 3/4.

Team India will face Australia in the fifth and final T20I of the five-match series at The Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday, November 8.
