Former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar has lashed out at the Pakistan team, led by Salman Ali Agha, after their 61-run loss to their arch-rivals India on Sunday, February 15, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Speaking exclusively on ABP News, the former pacer asserted that the talent in the current Pakistani team will not be able to handle pressure. Furthermore, he added that this Pakistani team can’t even dream of beating India in the future.
"We were nowhere in the match. The way Shaheen played... he was bowling at 125 kmph. This is not the requirement of modern-day cricket. These are not the talents that will handle pressure. For the last 15-20 years, there has been no investment. The sad reality of the situation is that while we fought with India on the ground at one point, today we can't even dream of beating them," Shoaib Akhtar said on ABP News.
Additionally, Akhtar also took a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Mohsin Naqvi, stating that incompetent people like him occupying administrative roles is the biggest crime in the world.
"One guy who does not know anything has become the Pakistan Cricket Board's chairman (Mohsin Naqvi). What can you do? How will the team run? You have made a superstar out of a player (Babar Azam) who cannot win you a game. The biggest crime in the world is to give a particular job to incompetent people," he added.
Shifting to the details of the match, Pakistan entrusted India to bat first. However, they posted a good-looking total of 175/7 on a tough wicket. Ishan Kishan was the wrecker-in-chief with a 77-run knock off 40 balls. In the chase, Pakistan got all out for 114 runs in 18 overs.
