Smriti Mandhana deletes all wedding photos and videos from social media; stirs controversy

Indian opening batter Smriti Mandhana has deleted all of her wedding-related photos and videos from her official Instagram handle, including the engagement announcement and proposal video, which turned out to be a major controversy.

Interestingly, she deleted all the content just a day after her wedding with the Indian music composer Palash Muchhal got postponed. While the festivities were going on for the past week, the wedding was expected to take place on November 23, but came to a halt after Mandhana’s father suffered a minor heart attack. 

Smriti's father was transported to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli. Fortunately, he has been under constant medical observation and was released on Tuesday, November 25. 

“According to the hospital management, Shrinivas's condition is completely stable now and he is out of danger as well. The doctors also performed angiography, in which they didn't see any blockages and that relieved the Mandhana family too,” an India TV report read.

“Meanwhile, since Smriti's father was admitted, the cricketer's wedding with Palash was postponed indefinitely, and no additional information related to the new wedding date has been provided by either of the families yet,” the report further read.

Interestingly, Palash was also admitted to a Sangli hospital the next day, on November 24, after allegations of sudden health difficulties. However, he is doing well and was discharged on the same day.

Alongside the proposal video with Palash, Mandhana has also removed the engagement announcement video, which was a viral dance routine that included her colleagues and teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy.

The engagement video is said to have been removed from Smriti's teammate Jemimah Rodrigues’ individual Instagram page as well. However, the primary wedding proposal video is still accessible on Palash Muchhal's official Instagram handle.
