The England Women's white-ball teams for their forthcoming series against the West Indies Women do not include Sophie Ecclestone. Right now, the left-arm spinner is recuperating from a knee ailment. Issy Wong, a right-arm medium pacer, is expected to return to international cricket after being out of the starting lineup for several months.

In a white-ball series against the West Indies, Edwards and skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt will start a new era as England attempts to bounce back after their 16-0 loss in the Women's Ashes earlier this year. They will do so without the top-ranked bowler in the world in both ODIs and T20s, who made her debut for Lancashire in the Women's One-Day Cup on Wednesday after missing two months due to injury.

Wong was selected for the 20-over series along with Emily Arlott, another pacer from Warwickshire, while Maia Bouchier was left out. Arlott, who has not yet made her debut for her country, was also selected for the ODI team. Despite playing for Lancashire on Wednesday and scoring a fifty as England's selection panel, which included recently appointed national selector Lydia Greenway, named their squads, Ecclestone has been unable to play domestic cricket because of a knee injury. Those chosen for the ODIs include Emma Lamb and Alice Davidson-Richards, who make their comeback to the international scene.

Sophie Ecclestone's shocking omission:

The fitness of England became a major concern. Down Under, however, Edwards, who has called it "the F-word," was insistent during her reveal that she will evaluate what she has received with her own eyes. Knight is back as a player, as expected, although Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Alice Capsey are only included in the squad for the three Twenty20 matches, the first of which begins next Wednesday in Canterbury.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Edward stated, "Following her knee injury, Sophie Ecclestone is physically not quite at 100% yet. She's been rehabbing and working hard, but she's only just got back on the park for Lancashire, so she doesn't have enough cricket under her belt to be ready for this series. All-rounders Freya Kemp (back injury) and Danielle Gibson (stress fracture) are both unavailable due to injury. Lauren Filer's return from a knee injury continues positively, and she will continue to be reviewed."

England Women's T20I squad:

Sophia Dunkley, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Paige Scholfield, Linsey Smith, Issy Wong, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Emily Arlott, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Nat Sciver-Brunt (c).

Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Mahika Gaur, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Heather Knight, Emma Lamb, Linsey Smith, Emily Arlott, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Bell, Kate Cross, Nat Sciver-Brunt (c), and Alice Davidson-Richards
