The Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi is tearing down the door in terms of national team selection. At the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubballi, the 29-year-old helped his team build a first-innings lead against Karnataka, earning him his seventh five-wicket haul of the Ranji Trophy 2025–26 season. This first innings advantage has put Jammu and Kashmir on the verge of winning their first Ranji trophy, which would be a historic achievement for the entire region.
This Ranji season, Nabi has claimed 60 wickets, including five for 54 against Karnataka in the opening innings of the championship match. After scoring a huge 584 at Hubballi, he helped J&K take control by bowling out the eight-time winners Karnataka for 293 in 93.3 overs.

On Day 4 of the Ranji Trophy final, Karnataka reduced Jammu & Kashmir to 11/2 at lunch after getting off to a great start with the ball in the second innings. On six, Qamran Iqbal was still undefeated. In their second innings, Jammu and Kashmir faltered after taking a commanding 291-run lead. In the second over, Prasidh Krishna, who had been playing well throughout the first innings, got rid of Yawer Hassan. Soon after, KL Shrijith made the catch in the slips after first-innings centurion Shubham Pundir was hit by a good-length ball from Vijaykumar Vyashak. Shubham only managed four runs.
