Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly made a quirky comment when a reporter asked about what advice he would like to give to Pakistan after they confirmed their participation against India in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign on Sunday, February 15, in Colombo.
Speaking exclusively to ANI at an event in Kolkata, while Ganguly didn’t offer any piece of advice to the Men In Green, he went on to advise the Indian batters to come out all guns blazing against their arch-rivals.
"Main Pakistan ko kyun suggestion du, main India ko deta hoon. Chakke hi maaro sirf. (Why should I suggest anything to Pakistan. I will suggest India to just hit sixes," Ganguly said while speaking to ANI.
"It will be a good match. It is a big match for TV. It will not be easy to beat India. They are a very good side," Ganguly added.
"The tournament has got off to a great start. No team has looked out of place so far. Netherlands, Scotland or Nepal. In fact, Nepal played really well. The more opportunities the Associate nations get, the better they will get. And if the tournament happens in India, everything works out well,” he observed.
Furthermore, Ganguly named Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Jasprit Bumrah as the players to watch out for in the mega event. Moreover, he picked Dewald Brevis, Travis Head and Glenn Phillips as players to make an impact in the showpiece event.
"A lot of good players are there. From India, Abhishek Sharma is there, Surya (Suryakumar Yadav), Jasprit (Bumrah), and Ishan (Kishan) are also there. South Africa has Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs. England has Harry Brook, Phil Salt, and Jacob Bethell. Australia has quite a few. Travis Head is there. Their three fast bowlers are not available. I quite like Cooper Connolly as well. New Zealand has Glenn Phillips, Finn Allen, and Tim Seifert. They are all very good players, playing for their respective teams. This is a long tournament. It will be good," he concluded.
