Stuart Broad frustrated to see KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant wasting time in the middle

Indian batters KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant faced the heat from the former England seamer Stuart Broad for wasting a lot of time in the middle as the bowlers were requested extra time before they delivered the ball on Day 4 of the Leeds Test.

Moving into the details, Rahul and Pant took their own sweet time to settle things down as they stitched an exceptional partnership for the fifth wicket to turn things upside down. However, it didn’t go down well with Broad as he wanted umpires to intervene to sort it out.

“It can get frustrating. You need to remind the umpires that the team are ready if the batters are still messing around with gloves or scratching a mark. I often would say to the batter: ‘Look, I’ve got to walk 25 yards back to my mark, by the time I turn you should be ready’,” Broad said on Sky Sports.

“Look now, KL Rahul is just looking at the field, slow, it’s another 10 seconds until Carse can set off. I think the umpires need to get a grip of this a little bit,” he added.

A few overs later, Rishabh Pant pulled Chris Woakes out of his delivery stride, which drew frustration from the pacer and the English fielders. Dinesh Karthik, who was commentating at that point in time, expressed his opinion, stating that Woakes has been charitable so far with his reactions.

“Rishabh Pant is in the middle of getting his grip right on his bat [at the other end]. Happened for the third time now to Chris Woakes. He’s been very, very charitable so far with his reactions,” Karthik said.

While Indian bowlers need 10 wickets to win the game on Day 5, England batters require another 350 runs from 90 overs to seal the deal.
