Former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath has picked his all-time India and Australia ODI XI. Interestingly, his picks came in as India is currently locking horns with Australia in the three-match ODI series Down Under.
Delving into the details of his XI, Badrinath started with Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar as the opening pair. While Rohit has accumulated 2434 runs from 48 ODIs against Australia, Sachin has racked up 3077 runs from 71 ODIs at an average of 44.59 to lead the run-scoring charts.
Moving forward, the former Australian captain Ricky Ponting takes up the No.3 slot with Virat Kohli occupying the No.4 position. Ponting is the leading run-scorer for Australia against India in the 50-over format, amassing 2164 runs from 59 ODIs at an average of 40.07.
Meanwhile, Kohli is the second-leading run-scorer, behind Sachin, scoring 2451 runs from 50 ODI innings at an average of 52.14. Also, Badrinath has slotted in Andrew Symonds and MS Dhoni at No.5 and No.6 positions respectively.
Symonds has racked up 1067 runs from 31 ODIs, while Dhoni has accumulated 1660 runs from 48 ODI innings. Interestingly, Dhoni goes on to lead this ODI side, ahead of the two-time World Cup-winning captain, Ponting.
Moving forward, Kapil Dev is the lone all-rounder while Shane Warne is the lone spinner in the XI. Brett Lee, Glenn McGrath, and Jasprit Bumrah form the pace battery. While Brett Lee leads the wickets tally with 55 scalps from 30 innings, Warne managed to pick only 15 wickets from 18 games. Kapil Dev is the leading Indian wicket-taker with 45 wickets from 39 games against the Aussies.
