“Ek Bihari sab pe bhari” - Suresh Raina backs Vaibhav Suryavanshi to make his India debut soon

Former Indian batter Suresh Raina has opened up on the Rajasthan Royals’ opening batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s heroics in the recently concluded IPL 2025 season. Speaking exclusively on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Raina heaped praise on the young opening batter.

When asked by the host on who will first make it to the Indian team between Vaibhav and Ayush Mhatre, Raina was quick to state that Vaibhav’s fearless approach is quite different when compared to other batters.

It’s important to note that Suryavanshi accumulated 252 runs from seven innings at an average of 36 with a century and a fifty in the recently concluded IPL season. Moreover, he had an excellent England tour against England U19 team.

Interestingly, Vaibhav, at the age of just 14, became the youngest ever centurion in men's T20 cricket when he scored 101 runs off 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur in IPL 2025.

“Vaibhav Suryavanshi. His fearless approach is different. Mhatre is also good, but Vaibhav has X-factor; such talents are rare. He recently scored a ton in England and scored a century in the IPL. It shows this player from Bihar proves – ek Bihari sab pe bhari (One from Bihar is heavier than all)… Nobody knew Samastipur… A player from a village showed his potential,” Raina said on Shubhankar Mishra YouTube channel.

Furthermore, Raina also took the names of players like Rishabh Pant, Rinku Singh and Ayush Mhatre for putting up explosive knocks right from their young age to impress the cricketing fraternity and the selection committee. 

“There was a coach from Bihar who told me that he looked after him. Such players come once in a century, whether it’s Rishabh Pant, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, or Rinku Singh… Ayush Mhtare, at the age of 17, right from the very first match [for CSK], whatever he has done [has been impressive],” he added.
