Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube was in full praise for the Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who got back to his old form, scoring an unbeaten 82-run knock off 37 balls with nine fours and four sixes in the second T20I vs New Zealand, in Raipur.
Speaking in the post-match press conference after the second T20I, Dube lauded Surya’s batting masterclass, calling him the No.1 T20 batter at the moment. Furthermore, he added that he enjoyed watching his batting from the dressing room and on the non-striker’s end.
"I was asked in an earlier press conference about Surya's form. I had said then itself that once he finds his form... The world knows what kind of player he is. Today, Suryakumar Yadav showed why he is the No. 1 T20 batter. I enjoyed his batting a lot,” Shivam Dube said in the post-match press conference.
"They [New Zealand] have an off spinner, leg spinner and left-arm spinner. So, they have variation in their bowling attack. We also need that variation in our batting line-up,” he added.
Moreover, Dube also hailed No.3 batter Ishan Kishan, who scored a 76-run knock off 32 balls with 11 fours and four sixes to win the player of the match award. Kishan and SKY stitched a 122-run stand for the third wicket to turn the tables.
"Ishan is one of the best left-handers I have seen. He's called a small-pocket blast. His batting is brilliant. He had been performing in domestic cricket and he showed what he can do today. We really enjoyed his batting,” he noted.
"When Ishan was hitting at the start, Surya was rotating the strike. Surya enjoyed it and we also enjoyed it from outside. Ishan showed class batting and after that Surya also showed his class," Dube concluded.
India will lock horns with New Zealand in the third T20I on Sunday, January 25, in Guwahati.
