On Sunday, March 8, India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the T20 World Cup 2026 final at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The first squad to win the championship again was the Men in Blue. They also became the first squad to win the coveted championship three times. New Zealand would have hoped for early wickets if they had chosen to bowl first. But it was not to be. Abhishek Sharma, on the other hand, took the stage and struck a quick half-century. Under duress, Sanju Samson also performed an incredible knock.
As they typically do before every other event, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not disclosed any information on prize money for this T20 World Cup. Therefore, it will be safe to estimate the winnings using the prize money from 2024. India may receive USD 2.45 million (about Rs 22.5 crore) in prize money after winning the trophy at Narendra Modi Stadium against New Zealand. The two defeated semifinalists may each receive USD 787,500 (approximately Rs 7.20 crore), while the runners-up, New Zealand, are expected to win USD 1.28 million (approximately Rs 11.76 crore).
