The Asian teams have found the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 to be a challenging tournament. While Pakistan is on the edge of elimination and Sri Lanka has been eliminated, the reigning champion, India, is vying for a spot in the semifinals. The next Super 8 matchup will now pit Pakistan against Sri Lanka.

Now, Pakistan's effort is in jeopardy. After their match against New Zealand was washed out, the Salman Ali Agha-led squad lost to England by a slim margin of two wickets, meaning they are yet to win a Super Eight match.  However, Sri Lanka has already done away with it. They struggled in the Super Eights, losing to England by 51 runs and then to New Zealand by 61 runs, after having a great group-stage run that included victories over Ireland, Oman, and Australia.
