South African star spinner Tabrazi Shamsi has selected his all-time T20I XI in an exclusive conversation with CricTracker. While Shamsi has picked four South African players in his XI, he has omitted former Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
Interestingly, Rohit Sharma is the leading run-scorer in T20Is, amassing 4231 runs from 151 innings at an average of 32.05 and a strike rate of 140.89 with 32 half-centuries and five centuries.
Moving into the details of his XI, Chris Gayle and Quinton de Kock will open the innings, while the Indian talismanic batter Virat Kohli occupies the No.3 slot. Interestingly, Gayle and Kohli have already retired from T20Is.
While Gayle accumulated 1899 runs from 75 T20I innings, De Kock has amassed 2584 runs from 91 innings at an average of 31.51. On the other hand, Kohli is at the third spot in the leading run-scorers list, amassing 4188 runs from 117 innings.
Moving forward, Shamsi has picked his former teammate AB de Villiers at the No.4 spot. Later, he selected his former national captain, Faf du Plessis, at the fifth batting position. The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni will lead the team and take up the keeping duties.
AB could play only 75 innings, amassing 1672 runs, while Faf racked up 1528 runs from 50 innings. Meanwhile, Dhoni amassed 1617 runs from 85 innings.
Speaking about the all-rounders, Shamsi went on to pick only Andre Russell in his XI. Subsequently, Rashid Khan and Imran Tahir are part of the spin attack while Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Starc form the pace battery.
