The PCB chief has destroyed his and his country's reputation: Madan Lal

Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal has slammed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chief Mohsin Naqvi, who decided to take the trophy and Team India medals away with him to his hotel, which irked the BCCI and the Indian cricketing fraternity.

Speaking to India Today, Madan Lal asserted that whatever has happened after the Asia Cup 2025 Final shouldn’t have happened, adding that it looks good when players lift the trophy in front of the fans and on live TV.

"All these things should not have happened. When players lift that trophy in front of the fans, or on live TV, that is when it looks good,” Madan Lal told India Today.

Furthermore, the former cricketer also felt that Naqvi had destroyed his and his country’s reputation by standing on the podium without handing it to someone else. Notably, India wanted to receive the trophy from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) vice chairman.

"Mohsin Naqvi has no knowledge of the sport. How a sport should be played, how one should behave. There were so many people from the Indian team who were standing on the dais afterwards. He should have told someone else to give the trophy to the Indian team. The PCB chief has destroyed his and his country's reputation,” he added.

Moreover, Madan Lal also responded to the reports of Naqvi calling the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav to collect the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from the Asian Cricket Council office.

"Why should Suryakumar Yadav go to the Asian Cricket Council office to collect the trophy? India won, you should have let them celebrate with the trophy on the ground. But of course, he does not have any knowledge, in their country everything is decided by the armed forces,” he concluded.
