“The ultimate goal is to play for India” - Delhi Capitals young cricketer

Delhi Capitals young opening batter Abishek Porel has opened up on his main goal of playing for Team India. Notably, Delhi Capitals bagged a convincing eight-wicket win over the Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, April 22.

Porel, who opened the batting, smacked 51 runs in 36 balls with five fours and a six. After the victory, Porel stated that the wicket helped batters slightly. Moreover, he added that he is having constant discussions with the coaching staff to improve his batting skills on a daily basis.

"I always had the confidence that we would chase down the target. The wicket was playing well, and we had also bowled really well, especially in the middle overs. So, I was pretty confident. I'm enjoying myself. I have had discussions with Hemang (Badani), sir, and Kevin Pietersen. Whatever conversations I have with them, I just try to work on it and execute it during the match,” Abhishek Porel said after the match.

"The support staff obviously tells me to play with a free mindset. The coaches, captain, and all the senior players have been very supportive, and everyone backs me. Obviously, the ultimate goal is to play for India. But right now I'm focusing on scoring runs for Delhi Capitals and helping the side win the trophy,” he added.

Batting first, LSG batters could post only 159/6 in 20 overs. Aiden Markram was the star batter, scoring 52 runs in 33 balls with two fours and three sixes. Mukesh Kumar was the top bowler, scalping four wickets for the Capitals.

In the chase, Delhi Capitals took only 17.5 overs to chase down the total with eight wickets in hand. Alongside Porel, KL Rahul (57* off 42) and captain Axar Patel (34* off 20) also shone well.
