Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah have lauded the Indian women’s team’s efforts in winning the ICC ODI Women’s World Cup 2025 title after defeating the South Africa women’s team in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, November 2.
Writing on X (Formerly Twitter), Modi stated that the Indian women’s team displayed exceptional teamwork throughout the campaign. Furthermore, he also added that this victory will motivate the budding players to take up sports.
"A spectacular win by the Indian team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Finals. Their performance in the final was marked by great skill and confidence. The team showed exceptional teamwork and tenacity throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our players. This historic win will motivate future champions to take up sports," Modi wrote on X.

Joining the queue, Amit Shah wrote that the Indian women’s team elevated India’s pride to the skies, adding that it would pave the path of inspiration for millions of girls, who would take up the sport.

Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma had an exceptional day in the grand finale as their vital contributions in the contest helped the Indian women win the title. While Shafali scored a 78-ball 87 and scalped two wickets, Deepti Sharma scored 58 runs with the willow and scalped a fifer in the second innings.
While Shafali was adjudged the player of the match in the grand finale for her all-round heroics, Deepti was awarded the player of the tournament with 215 runs and 22 wickets.
