Former Indian cricketer and commentator Suresh Raina feels the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have one of the best squads this time around, and they have enough capability to lift the elusive silverware in the IPL 2025 season.
Though the RCB franchise made it to the IPL three times earlier, they failed to get their hands on the title. With the side’s bowling being exceptional this season, Raina feels this could be the perfect time for the franchise.
Furthermore, Raina is impressed with RCB for defeating the Chennai Super Kings twice at home and away this season. Interestingly, this was the first time that RCB defeated CSK twice in a season in the tournament’s history.
"There are strong chances because Royal Challengers Bengaluru is playing in a different league this year. They've defended scores like 150 and 136 at Chinnaswamy, and their bowling unit has stepped up. The new captain has beaten Chennai Super Kings twice- once in Chennai and again at home, which speaks volumes," Raina said on Star Sports.
Moreover, Mr IPL asserted that RCB has the best dressing room atmosphere, which will play a crucial role in the franchise’s success. Also, he felt Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings are the other three sides that are doing well.
"The dressing room is positive, and these are signs of a team that can go all the way. Yes, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings are also doing well, but this might finally be Virat's year to lift the trophy after 18 years," Raina added.
For the unversed, RCB is currently holding the pole position with 17 points from 12 games after bagging a point against KKR with the game getting abandoned due to rain at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 17.l
