At Hyderabad's Shamshabad Airport, supporters gave India's Asia Cup 2025 final hero, Tilak Varma, a thunderous welcome on Monday. After helping India win a record-tying ninth Asia Cup, the southpaw, who played a game-winning innings of 69 not out in the final against Pakistan, went back to his birthplace. Soni Bala Devi, the managing director, and Shivsena Reddy, the chairman of the Telangana Sports Authority, also congratulated him. Supporters gathered around a car as Tilak got inside, singing his name in gratitude.

At the airport, fervent supporters welcomed Varma to the beat of drums as he returned to his hometown. Reporters gathered around him, curious to learn about his experience in the high-stress situation, as he was given a flower. India won by five wickets in the final, defeating bitter rivals Pakistan for the third time in the competition. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 57 as Pakistan scored 146 runs in their innings, with the rest of the batting order struggling. India's best bowler, Kuldeep Yadav, held the opposition to a manageable four-wicket total.

Hyderabad Celebrates Tilak Varma:

Tilak's older brother, Tarun Varma, told reporters at the airport how happy he was with his brother's game-winning effort. When Tilak Verma stepped to the crease during the tense chase, the Pakistani players had "a lot to say" to him. This inspired the Indian batsman to perform one of the most pivotal innings of his career to date. Tarun said, "He played exceptionally well, and I am thrilled with his performance. It is challenging to play like that in a final, but I am very happy he delivered. When he was batting, I felt great. There was some pressure, but he said he could handle it. Everyone feels very happy and proud."

After the victory, Varma ran over the ground in ecstasy and celebrated with unrestrained fervour. He was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, which concluded an unforgettable evening for the Men in Blue and cemented his place among Indian cricket's rising stars.
