Tim Southee, England's pace bowling consultant, was furious with the Indian Test captain Shubman Gill for his double standards in the ongoing Lord’s Test. Notably, Gill was seen shouting expletives at Zak Crawley for wasting time in the dying moments of Day 3.
Delving into the details, Crawley repeatedly delayed the Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah from bowling and interrupted his run-up, calling for a physio after he was hit on his fingers as he and his opening partner Ben Duckett had to face only one over at Day 3, stumps.
Things heated up on the field between both teams as Gill can be heard shouting an expletive at Crawley, saying “Grow some f**king b***s”, which didn’t go down well with Duckett, who intervened and settled things between both teams.
"It is always exciting to see both sides animated towards the end. Not sure what they were complaining about when Shubman was lying down getting a massage in the middle of the day yesterday. It's obviously part of the game. It is an exciting way to finish,” said Southee at the post-day press conference.
On the other hand, Indian opening batter KL Rahul asserted that India wanted to bowl two overs with six minutes left, aiming for a wicket or two in order to take control of the game. Notably, Rahul got on to the Lord’s honours board with an exceptional century on Day 3.
"Obviously we wanted to bowl two overs. There were six minutes left. Obviously, two overs is a no-brainer that any team will bowl two overs with six minutes to go,” KL Rahul said in the post-day press conference.
"We were all pumped up either way because we know how difficult it is for a batter to come in to bat for two overs when you have been in the field all day. We were hoping we could get a wicket there, and a wicket at the end of the day's play would have been perfect for us,” he added.
