Dindigul Dragons captain Ravi Ashwin has been fined 30% of his match fee for showing dissent during a TNPL (Tamil Nadu Premier League 2025) match against Tiruppur Tamizhans on Sunday, June 8 at SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore.
Notably, the former Indian all-rounder has been fined 10% of his match fees for dissent against the umpires, and 20% for cricket equipment misuse. Moving into the details of the incident, it happened during the fifth over of Dindigul’s innings.
Ashwin was adjudged LBW against R Sai Kishore as the batter was attempting a sweep shot. While the replay showed that the ball was clearly pitching outside leg, the umpire was quick to raise her finger as Ashwin’s side had already used both reviews on wide-ball calls, which were unsuccessful.
With Ashwin not having any chance of reviewing his dismissal, he was visibly seen upset with the on-field umpire, pointing toward the pitch. While he was walking off the field, he was seen hitting his pads with his bat in frustration. Later, he threw his gloves on his way to the dugout.
“There was a hearing conducted by the match referee after the game. He (Ashwin) accepted the sanctions after a hearing conducted by the match referee,” a TNPL official told Cricbuzz.
