The game of one-day international cricket (ODI) has changed a lot since 2020 and has become more fast-paced irrespective of pitches. And batters have become bolder when it comes to scoring runs across different phases in a one-day game.

And thanks to favorable rules in ODIs, batters enjoy very good records in white-ball cricket as well, and today we take a look at the top five batters with the highest ODI average since 2020.

Number 5 on the list is India’s KL Rahul with 53.02. Rahul has been amazing for India in the middle order, and his 498 runs in the 2023 World Cup were a testament to his brilliance in the tournament, as he was the backbone of the Indian middle order.

England’s Dawid Malan, who recently retired from international cricket, comes in at fourth place with an ODI average of 57.04. One of the most explosive openers for England, Malan formed a good partnership at the top with Jason Roy. Overall, Malan played 30 ODIs, scoring 1450 runs at an average of 55.76 with 6 centuries and 7 fifties.

Travis Head of Australia is in the number 3 spot with an average of 59.65 in ODIs since 2020. He made his Australia debut in 2016, but since 2020, he has found new wind in his batting skills, making him a dangerous customer in white-ball cricket. Pakistan’s modern-day great Babar Azam is placed at the no. 2 spot with an ODI batting average of 60.41 since the 2020s. Babar has 2598 runs in 49 ODIs in these 4 years. He has hit an astonishing 8 centuries and 19 fifties in this time period with a highest score of 158.
