Indian limited-overs spinner Varun Chakravarthy has picked his dream T20 XI in a candid conversation with the former Indian spinner Ravi Ashwin on his YouTube channel. Interestingly, only three Indians made it to the XI.
Interestingly, Ashwin has stated that Varun has to pick the players with whom he has played in his career thus far. Starting off, Varun went ahead with Jos Buttler, the English attacking batter, as his opener alongside the Aussie dashing batter Travis Head.
While Buttler was part of the Titans set-up in IPL 2025, Head offered his services to the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise. Further, he picked India’s No.3 and MI batter Suryakumar Yadav.
Subsequently, the Caribbean and LSG dashing batter Nicholas Pooran takes up the No.4 spot. Later, he picked the former South African keeper-batter and SRH middle-order batter Heinrich Klaasen at No.5.
Moving further, Chakravarthy picked Hardik Pandya, the Indian all-rounder, who played a crucial role against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final, propelling Team India to a title win after a long gap.
Later, the West Indies and Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell made it to his Dream T20 XI. Interestingly, Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan are the lone spin options, with the spin duo being the best in the world at the moment.
Moving forward, Varun has picked the Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as the lead of his bowling attack with Sri Lankan yorker specialist Matheesha Pathirana, who offered his services to the Chennai Super Kings.
Varun Chakravarthy's Dream T20 XI: Jos Buttler, Travis Head, Suryakumar Yadav, Nicholas Pooran, Heinrich Klaasen, Hardik Pandya, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Rashid Khan, Jasprit Bumrah, and Matheesha Pathirana.
