Devdutt Padikkal's performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–2026 is outstanding. The Karnataka batsman has already scored 721 runs at an average of 103 in eight games. Padikkal earned an undefeated 81* while representing Karnataka versus Mumbai in the semi-final. With the knock, he surpassed 700 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The 25-year-old Padikkal is the first player to score more than 700 runs twice in a single Vijay Hazare Trophy season. Other players who have scored more than 700 runs in a single Vijay Hazare Trophy season include Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Narayan Jagadeesan, and Karun Nair. The southpaw needed 60 runs to surpass the 700-run threshold for the season going into the quarterfinal, and he accomplished it in the 24th over of Karnataka's chase. In addition to setting his record, his undefeated 81 off 95 balls won him Player of the Match.

Devdutt Padikkal has reached to a point where law of averages are failing each & every day. His form in VHT has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Karnataka chose to field first earlier in the match. Vidyadhar Patil led the assault with figures of 3/42 as Mumbai was limited to 254 for 8 in their allocated 50 overs. Abhilash Shetty and Vidwath Kaverappa each contributed two wickets. After a strong start, Mumbai faltered, losing four wickets in the first eighteen overs. With some assistance from captain Siddhesh Lad, who scored 38, Shams Mulani produced a valiant 86 off 91 balls.
Devdutt Padikkal, who was undefeated at 81 off 95 balls with eleven boundaries, lost out on a century. Karun Nair, who was not out on 74 off 80 deliveries and hit eleven boundaries in a smooth knock, provided him with great support. Throughout the chase, Karnataka never appeared in danger thanks to the Padikkal-Nair partnership, which also put pressure on Mumbai's bowlers.
Mayank Agarwal, the captain of Karnataka, was dismissed early for 12 in the reply, but Padikkal and Karun Nair made sure there were no more problems. Together, they forged an unbreakable alliance. Nair scored 74 from 80 balls, while Padikkal hit 11 boundaries. The play was stopped due to rain and poor lighting, but Karnataka cruised to 187/1 in 33 overs, well ahead of the required rate, and won by 55 runs using the VJD method.
