As the world condemned the horrific terrorist assault in Pahalgam, India's sporting community wavered between sadness and anger, with some calling for the country to sever all sports links with Pakistan.

At least 26 civilians were killed and numerous others were injured when terrorists opened fire on Tuesday at a popular tourist destination in Pahalgam, south Kashmir. The attack has been attributed to the Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow organisation of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group, which is outlawed in Pakistan.

The victims' intended vacation in Jammu and Kashmir turned into a nightmare. Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Gujarat, Haryana, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh were among the states represented by the large number of attendees. In addition, two foreigners from the United Arab Emirates and Nepal were also slain.

On April 22, at approximately 3 PM, this attack took place. This was one of the worst attacks in the area following the 2019 Pulwama terrorist attack. Numerous Indian cricket players, including Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Pathiv Patel, and Virat Kohli, sent their deepest sympathies to the victims and survivors following the incident.

Since the Pulwama assault in 2019, this attack has been the worst act of terrorism in the valley. Virat Kohli, the star batsman for India, begged for justice for the heinous act and offered his condolences to the victims' families. In order to convey his sorrow, India skipper Rohit Sharma also shared a heartbroken emoji on Instagram.
