Virender Sehwag and other experts reveal their IPL 2025 playoffs predictions

Just before the start of the IPL 2025 season, experts Virender Sehwag, Michael Vaughan, Adam Gilchrist, Rohan Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle and others made their playoff predictions on Cricbuzz. 

Interestingly, no expert barring Rohan Gavaskar and Harsha Bhogle have picked RCB to finish in the top four at the end of the league stage in IPL 2025. Former Indian opener Sehwag has selected SRH, MI, PBKS and LSG to end in top four.

On Thursday, March 20 at the captains meeting in Mumbai, BCCI and IPL governing council have come up with new rule changes ahead of the new edition. Captains will not be banned for over-rate offences, instead will be docked demerit points.

Notably, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant, leading MI and DC franchises respectively were handed a one-match ban for their team’s third over-rate offence. Interestingly, Hardik will serve that ban against CSK in IPL 2025.

Moreover, the saliva ban has also been lifted. Notably, this ban was imposed by the ICC in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the BCCI lifting the ban, ICC might also review the rule in the coming days. 

Furthermore, the impact player rule will continue to be a part of the IPL. Earlier, reports indicated that the rule would be removed.
