Former Indian opener and analyst Virender Sehwag has pointed out India’s bowling as the major concern ahead of the Super 8 round in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Speaking exclusively on Cricbuzz, Sehwag asserted that bowling looked a bit weak as they conceded 176 runs after scoring 190-plus runs against the Netherlands, highlighting that the real test for the team begins in the Super 8 round.

"I don't think India has been challenged yet. In the first match India struggled a bit, but since then India have been playing some consistent cricket. The real test will begin in the Super 8. Against the Netherlands, India scored 193, but they also conceded 176. So, India will have to look at their bowling. When we come up against a better batting side, how will this bowling unit respond, and be used?" Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, the former Indian pacer Mohit Sharma, who is also part of the same panel discussion, has stated that Arshdeep Singh should be played alongside Jasprit Bumrah to bowl in tandem in the death overs.

"There is still a doubt as to which combination India will proceed with in the Super 8. If you have an all-rounder like Axar Patel at No.8, then who bowls at the death? If a team like the Netherlands can ask questions in the death, then there are bigger teams coming up. If Arshdeep is there, you can be a little flexible in the death since he can bowl with Bumrah," Mohit said on Cricbuzz.

India will next take on South Africa in their first clash of the Super 8 round at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, February 22.
