“It was brain fade” - Virender Sehwag slams Ishan Kishan for walking back to pavilion

Sunrisers Hyderabad top-order batter Ishan Kishan hogged the limelight after his controversial dismissal against the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2025 season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, April 23.

Former Indian opener and commentator Virender Sehwag has opened up on the dismissal stating that it was a brain fade moment for Kishan, who didn’t edge the ball, but walked off the crease.

Moving into the details of the wicket, Deepak Chahar, who was bowling his second over of the game, sprayed one down the leg, which brushed Kishan's thigh pad. While the umpire signalled wide, Kishan opted to leave the crease. Eventually, the umpire had to change his mind and single it out.

“Many times, the mind fails to work at that moment. It was brain fade. Stop at least and wait for the umpire to make his decision. He is also charging some amount of money for his job,” Sehwag said.

“Let him do his work. I could not understand this honesty. Had it been an edge, it would have been understandable because that would be in the spirit of the game. But it was neither out; the umpire was unsure and you started walking off all of a sudden,” Sehwag added.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a mediocre total of 143/8 in 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen was the star batter, scoring 71 runs in 44 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Trent Boult was the star bowler, scalping four wickets and turning the game upside down.

In the chase, Mumbai Indians took 15.4 overs to finish off the game with seven wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma continued to star the innings, scoring 70 runs in 46 balls with eight fours and three sixes. Suryakumar Yadav also shined well, scoring 40* runs in 19 balls with five fours and two sixes.
