Washington Sundar opens up on heated moments in Lord’s Test

Indian spinner Washington Sundar, who changed the course of the game with his four-wicket haul in the third innings, has stated his views on both England and Indian team having heated moments on the field in the last two days of the Lord’s Test.

Notably, Shubman Gill lost his cool on the third day’s play at the England opening batter Zak Crawley, who went on to waste a lot of time when he came out to bat, called physio to attend his injured finger.

While India wanted to bowl two overs in the six-minute quota before stumps on Day 3, Crawley’s time-wasting tactics meant they could get only one over before the day concluded. Interestingly, Gill went on to hurl expletives at the opening batter.

Moreover, the drama continued on the fourth day when Ben Stokes joined the party, sarcastically applauding KL Rahul and Akash Deep when the duo was batting in the dying moments of Day 4. Also, Gill received a lot of sledging from Ben Duckett while he came out to bat.

"Aggression is always inside of us, in both dressing rooms I'd say. There was an incident that happened and it came out last evening. It came out quite a bit today as well. This is sport, everyone is quite aggressive and quite intense in their own way. No matter the sport, if you're an athlete it's a common factor I'd say," Washington said at the post-day press conference.

Sundar is confident of Team India putting up a show on the fifth and final day of the Test with a lot of solid batters queued up to show their amazing batting skills at the iconic ground to earn a historic win.

"I mean, we want so many things the way we expect it to be, but yes, we'll take it any day. I mean, we'll really come out positive on Day 5. We've got some solid batsmen in the dressing room, and yeah, it's exciting in every way. You know, winning a Test in Lord's is going to be amazing, so I think we're sitting pretty," he concluded.
