Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram has delivered a warning to the fans and cricketers of India and Pakistan to remain civilized and not cross any lines when the two teams clash in the Asia Cup 2025 tournament.

The two sides, who don’t play bilateral matches, will clash in the Asia Cup 2025 Group A match on September 14 in Dubai. There is also the potential for two more high-stakes encounters in the Super Four and the final.

India and Pakistan last played each other in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA, where India successfully defended 119 runs and won by seven runs.

Wasim Akram says aggression within limits is welcomed but warns of unruly play

Legendary Pakistani bowler Wasim Akram, whose emotions are always running high, has called on players and billions of spectators around the world to exercise discipline in order to create a spectacle that is marked by respectful but intense rivalry.

Speaking to Telecom Asia Sport, Akram strongly advised supporters to respect their boundaries, particularly in light of the Pahalgam terror attack.

"I am sure these matches will be entertaining, just like all other India-Pakistan matches. But I hope both the players and the fans will remain disciplined and not cross the line," Akram told Telecom Asia Sport.

Akram emphasized that spectators need to be disciplined as well, emphasizing that sportsmanship must go hand in hand with passion.

"Games between India and Pakistan are watched by billions around the world. If Indians are patriotic and want their team to win, the same goes for Pakistani fans," Akram added.

Regarding cricket, Akram acknowledged that India would begin as the favorites due to their recent performance, but he emphasized that how they handled pressure would determine the result.

"India has been in better form recently and will start as favorites, but the team that handles pressure best on the day will win,” Akram added.

India has the most Asia Cup title wins with eight trophy wins. They have won seven Asia Cup titles in ODI format and one T20I title.
