Former Pakistan legendary pacer and commentator Wasim Akram spoke his heart out after Pakistan’s six-wicket defeat to the Indian team in the Super Four clash on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.
Speaking exclusively on Sony Sports Network, Wasim was pained to reveal that it has been tough watching Pakistan cricket of late. Moreover, he added that India has been completely outplaying Pakistan in the past four to five years.
As Akram said, India and Pakistan have faced each other 15 times in T20Is. While India has dominated Pakistan in 12 games, Pakistan has secured victories in only three encounters.
“I am going to speak my heart out. It is tough to watch Pakistan. I understand as an ex-player winning and losing that part of the game. But again India has outplayed Pakistan in every department over the last four or five years,” Wasim Akram said on Sony Sports Network.
“Once or twice, we have won here and there, but it has been incredible from India. The talent, the depth, everything. One or two catches can be dropped in any game, that is fine. But from 91 in the first 10 overs, when we fail to reach 200, there is nothing to say,” he added.
Delving into the details of the Super Four clash between the arch-rivals, Pakistan, after losing the toss, posted a good-looking total of 171/5 in 20 overs. In response, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma (74) and Shubman Gill (47) turned the game’s complexion as India eventually bagged a six-wicket win.
India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, continues to stay unbeaten in the tournament. After a two-day break, they will later take on Bangladesh on Wednesday, September 24.
